Its been 5 months since I last posted anything on my Blog. I didn’t feel like I had anything to write about as far as home life and home decorating. I haven’t been offline , I’ve been posting on my Scrapbook/journaling Instagram page. As far as our home , We’ve been stripping carpet . moving rooms around. Everything is still upside down but slowly making progress.
The shelf is right by our front door . It offers a place for plants and other catch alls. The grill is on the longest side of our porch. The hubby built frames so we can enclose the porch before winter gets here.
The longest side of the porch. As you can see there is wood for the frames to enclose the porch. We rearranged the porch a few weeks ago to see what it looked like and to see if we would like the new arrangement, so far, we like how it looks and it is working out for us.
Hubby didn’t want to be in the pictures so he to a break to burn some wood while I took a few pictures. The dresser is one that we got from our neighbor The cart was thrifted years ago and I spray painted last years or the year before. The bench was a dumpster dive find from Hubbys job. The frames are up . we just have to put plastic on them and then put the frames back in place. The yard is a lot cleaner than it use to be, We are planning on putting a shed in the back corner, where the ladder currently is. The camera wires need to be placed back up but the birds keep knocking them down. Next week we will be putting out our Christmas decorations and the porch is one area I really want to Decorate this year.
We’ve been going through some things here in the Mobile Home Park for the past few months and I didn’t want to post a lot of negativity on my blog.
I hope that you are all doing well. I hope that you have a GREAT THANKSGIVING and that you can spend it with you loved ones.
We were going to buy a real tree this year but decided against it because of our cats and neither one of us wants to be picking up the pine needles that fall from the tree.
We decided to not put a tree up at least in our living room. I have a small semi-flocked tree in my bedroom. It’s not decorated as of yet. We did put out our Santas and some of our Christmas decorations.
I still have to decorate my china cabinet and a few other places in the living room. I’m thinking about putting up our musical string lights. My desk is decorated but I still need to add the pinecones to a basket that is sitting on my desk.
I decided that I didn’t want the desk to be overcrowded with Christmas Decor. I kept it fairly simple this year. I might add fairie lights to it but I’m not sure because of the cats.
We still have some cleaning and moving things around so it will feel extra homey. I still have a lot more Christmas Decor but this is pretty much what we put out so far.
This area still needs to be completed . The stereo is doing under the pallet. We might have got a late start with Christmas Decorating but at least we have some out.
The new room is done minus some trim and the door not being changed out. The door is the same door that my son postered.
I used everything I already had on hand with the exception of drop cloths. The brown dresser and bed were bought from family . The drop cloths are used as curtains. We paid 10.00 a piece fr them and there are 3 in the room.
The table is a make shift desk , the chair was a Goodwill find. The rug was mislabeled , it said that it was a 7×9 and actually it’s 8×10, we paid 40.00 for it. The rug covers the carpet underneath.
The cabinet is two separate pieces both from Goodwill . I painted the top to match the both. The closet still needs the trim to be put back up. Still need to hang pictures on the walls.
This is my bedroom as my Hubby went back to work and now is on daylight. With me being up and down most nights it’s hard for him to get any sleep. This is working for both of us. I’m a night owl and I prefer to do things at night. I’m in the front of our Mobile Home and he is in the middle. I don’t vacuum in the middle of the night. I do a lot of cleaning at night though.
The paint was a mis tint that we got from Busy Beaver Hardware. The paint can wasn’t labeled as to what the color was.
The hubby and I went to Goodwill earlier today to look for stuff for my son and for the “new” room.
We didn’t find anything for my son but I found several things to use in the new room and in the pantry.
The “laundry” basket is going to be used in the pantry to hold our bagged cereal. The crate will hold extra pillows and maybe a throw blanket. The white containers are going to hold Buttons and some smalls things. The oil lamp will be used in case of a power outage.
I haven’t done anything to the room because it still has my sons stuff in it. The room will be emptied on Friday. I still might try and do some cleaning of the walls and do some painting.
This shelf will be painted white to go on top of a dresser that we picked up last week from Goodwill. The room will have things that we already have on hand with the exception of curtains. I’m thinking of doing drop cloth as curtains. Drop Cloths are on the heavier side and the room is the coldest in the mobile home.
I have a vision for this room but I might have to tweak it a little . I’m super excited to get in there and start the small projects . The blinds are coming down, they are trashed. So, I’m trying to decide if I want to mod podge the windows for privacy issues as the room is on the street.
More to come on this room once we get it emptied..
It’s still quite hot here but the humidity wasn’t to bad.
We had to go grocery shopping for a few things and we stopped at Big Lots so I could get my flavored water. I like Sparkling ICE Black Raspberry, Big Lots is the only place that has them for less than a dollar.
While we were in Big Lots I decided to look around the store to see if they had any sales going on. I looked at bed linens (no, we don’t need any), I also looked at the candles, I didn’t find any that appealed to me.
I checked out their Fall decor and boy was I amazed at the stuff they have this year. The Fall Decor looked like stuff you would find at Hobby Lobby. We left with only the water I wanted and a bag of chips for the Hubby.
We are still working on our home and getting prepared for this winter. We’ve heard that it’s suppose to be a bad winter. We are saving money for a woodstove. We have lost power during the winters before and we didn’t liked it but we did get through them. I know winter is several months away but it’s not to early to prepare for it now.
With everything that has been going on around here, We have been sprucing up our home.
We painted the “new” wall in our living room. We are going to use the paint to finish painting the walls on our pantry.
The wall with white walls and the first coat of blue/gray. We still have to change out the drywall above the new wall.
The second coat of blue /gray paint on the walls. We have a few more things to do.
New desk not decorated and the desk decorated , Ezio is sleeping on the desk. I used everything that I had on hand to decorate the desk. The drywall above the desk still needs to be changed and painted. We are in the process of decluttering our home. We have a long ways to go in the decluttering department.
We were given a big tv and now it is taking up too much space so it’s going to go to Goodwill along with other things. We did invest in cameras for our home because of the smashed windows to our home.
We decided to go to Goodwill to see if they had any type of cabinets that I could use for kitchen storage. It was several trips within a week and half, that I actually found something I could use for storage. We actually enclosed our Pantry so now the kitchen is smaller. We still have the same uppers and lowers that came with the Mobile Home. Still don’t use the drawers and part of the lowers because they are falling apart .
These are the cabinets we bought, I wasn’t to happy about the price but I needed extra storage so We got them. I didn’t paint them just gave them a good cleaning and use them everyday. While we were at Goodwill I looked around for small decor pieces that I could use in our “new” bedroom. I found a few pieces that I’m going to be using in our bedroom and throughout our home.
The single picture is going to hold chalk once we finish the chalkboard wall in our bedroom. The set will more than likely sit on our console table we have in the room. We been so busy with projects, finishing one up just to start another. Our bedroom is done with the exception of the chalkboard wall. I still have to paint the wall and paint the new pantry walls.
I will post another blog post about our bedroom what it looks like now and once the chalkboard paint is done.
The garden is nowhere where I’d like it to be but I still have time to do a late summer , early fall garden going.
We decided to switch Bedrooms. We decided to take the smallest room in our Mobile Home.
The decision to switch rooms was talked about .The pros and the cons of going to a smaller bedroom. I wanted a peaceful room which I wasn’t getting in our current bedroom. I really want a bedroom that is just basically the bed and a night stand and a lamp.
So, we decided to switch that meant taking everything out of the small room which was the hubbys gaming room. He now has the bigger room but it is shared with our clothes and linens. We are still working on the smaller room. We did have to downsize to a full size bed. We got a good deal and a full size bedroom set from his Aunt.
This is what the room looked like emptied and on wall to the studs. The room was blue when we bought this place. We knew that we were going to do something with it but we weren’t sure what. The window has to be replaced because it leaks and it is curving in on its self. Which isn’t good. Hopefully, we won’t have to replace the frame just the window its self.
We’ve been working on the inside of our home mainly because it needs it and the rain has kept us indoors. Hopefully, within the next few days or so, we can paint and the put the bed in along with some decorations.
As we continue work on our little yard, the patio is coming along nicely.
I mentioned earlier that I ordered a bench from Amazon , I also ordered a seat cushion. The seat cushion came earlier today and I put it on the bench right away. It looks really nice and the cushion is comfy.
The patio is coming along and I still want/need to add more plants and some décor. I’m going to use what I already have for the décor. The “walls” will hold the décor. I like the Farmhouse Style so that is what I’m going to be using.
It is such a nice day , the temps are in the high 70s. There is a nice breeze so it doesn’t feel so hot. We are also working on cleaning up the junk from the back part of our yard. I’m writing this post in the middle of cleaning our yard.
We have a ways to go before the enclosure for the garden can be built. There is rotting wood and “garbage”. So, it takes time to get things done. We put in a new set of steps in the front of our porch. We took the old steps and put them on the back of our porch. There was a ramp but it took too much of the back up.
Like I said we still have a ways to go. The weather has been holding us back from working in the yard. We have been doing some work even in the rain but not like we should be doing. The porch needs to be cleaned off.
The hubby said that he would like to do another patio off the back of the porch. We will see how that goes. I just know that I want the yard cleaned so we can start working on the enclosed garden. I’m hoping to tackle that sometime next week.
So, What projects have you been doing lately? Have a wonderful weekend!!
We’ve been working on outside projects and the Patio is one of those projects.
We have a ways to go before anything is complete. The Garden Enclosure will be started this weekend or early next week. The Patio was an idea from my hubby and I agreed to it . We have a porch that we could use but we wanted an area away from the house.
The front part of our yard was kind of a dead space. We didn’t use it for anything so now we have the start of a patio. The hubby is letting me come up with ideas of how to make it a useful and cozy space .
As you can see it’s not much or pretty for that matter. The grille and wood have been removed. The racks are going to be used as plant holders. We are going to put a piece of wood up against the fence for privacy and noise reduction.
I’m still looking for outside furniture but haven’t found anything I really like. So, I’m going to use dinning chairs that we already have for the time being. We have wood to make a few tables. I’ve got plants so they will be on the patio. We might have to buy a few more pavers but not sure if we will or not, I think we have some but they are smaller than what is already down.
We have a frost warning so we brought in our hanging baskets for the night. Tomorrow they will go back outside and I will get the planters from our back part of the yard and get the flowers transplanted .
